After High School Certificate
In our country Pakistan F.Sc
or F.A are known as HSC's. This is completed after 12 years of study. In foreign countries
this is given after 13 years of study. So the foreign institutions have set up a one year
course called a foundation course so that the student can qualify for admission into their
universities for a bachelors degree.
Most universities in the UK
require a foundation course after F.Sc/F.A or GCE A' Levels which are the standard
examinations in the UK. After this it is best to go into a course which is accepted by a
foreign university because a UK Bachelors degree is compared to a Pakistani Masters
degree. So in the process you end up losing one or two years and foreign degrees fetch you
better jobs.
Presently three institutions in
Pakistan which are offering foreign degrees. APIIT-Pak
is affiliated with 9 universities in the UK, 2 in Australia and is also approved by NED
University Karachi and Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Pakistan. It offers
different diplomas which have a minimum requirement of SSC or GCE O' Levels. They start
from a one year course and and then to a higher diploma which is virtually the first year
of the B.Sc. course. After this has been completed the student has an option of going to
any of these universities or stay in Pakistan to enter into the 2nd Year B.Sc. course.
The Karachi Institue of Information Technology has been validated by the University of Huddersfield to offer the University Certificate in Computing and the BSc(Hons)/BSc Computing (Software Development) under a franchise arrangement. The awards will be made by the University of Huddersfield.
